Xinjiang Urumqi Vocational University is located at No. 723, Xingfu Road, Urumqi city. It is a comprehensive full-time ordinary higher vocational college, a national model backbone Higher Vocational College and an autonomous region model higher vocational construction unit. The school covers an area of 2351 mu (2080 mu of which the first phase of the new campus has been completed), with a total assets of 265 million yuan, teaching experimental equipment worth more than 67 million yuan, 108 on campus experimental (training) rooms, 128 off campus training rooms, and a library collection of more than 600000 books.

At present, the school has 725 teaching staff, 14000 students, 16 teaching units, 64 majors and 148 teachers with senior titles. Among the full-time teachers, the proportion of double qualified teachers reaches 45%. It has two teaching teams at the autonomous region level, one famous teacher at the autonomous region level, and a backbone teacher echelon for all majors; it has four demonstration construction majors, two characteristic majors, 11 key construction majors, and 10 excellent courses at the autonomous region level.

By the end of 2010, college students had won 25 awards in the municipal level and above competitions, among which "modern logistics - Design and implementation of reserve scheme" and "electronic design - embedded product development" won the third prize in the national skills competition of higher vocational colleges, realizing the breakthrough of zero in the national skills competition of the autonomous region. The "double certificate system" has been actively implemented, and the "double certificate" acquisition rate of graduates has reached more than 80%. The social practice of "three visits to the countryside" of college students has been awarded the honorary title of advanced unit by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League for 19 consecutive years. The employment rate of graduates is more than 95%. Graduates are welcomed by employers. Many graduates have become business backbones or industry leaders.
