Tianhe College of Guangdong Normal University of technology is a full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education. Based on Guangdong and facing south China, the college serves for regional industrial transformation and economic and social development, and focuses on cultivating high-quality application-oriented professionals with solid foundation, wide range of knowledge, strong practical ability and innovative spirit.

At present, the college has 10 teaching departments, including electrical engineering department, architectural engineering department, mechanical and electrical engineering department, computer science and Technology Department, management department, finance and Economics Department, foreign language department, art department, general education department and ideological and Political Department; there are 30 undergraduate majors, 14635 full-time students; 626 full-time teachers, including 165 professors and associate professors, 346 doctors and masters, and 1 foreign teacher 0, 50% of them are double qualified teachers. The college has elegant environment, perfect facilities, strong academic atmosphere, scientific and democratic management, and adheres to the innovation of school running system and operation mechanism, which can give full play to the advantages of "people, excellence and independence" of independent college. The college attaches great importance to practical teaching, pays close attention to education and teaching reform, and adheres to the talent training road of school enterprise cooperation and combination of production, teaching and research. Over the past ten years, nearly 20000 graduates have been trained and transported to the society. The college's Employment Guidance Center has cooperated with nearly 100 large enterprises in the Pearl River Delta for a long time to build nearly 100 training and practice bases, opening up a green employment channel for graduates. The college adheres to the principle of open education, and is committed to integrating education into the international higher education environment and introducing foreign high-quality education resources. Through credit recognition, joint training and other multiple forms, the college has reached cooperation and exchange intentions with foreign well-known universities such as alant International University of the United States, North Island College of Canada and Sydney University of science and technology of Australia. Foreign exchange programs such as paid internships in the United States have been launched.

The college has gradually improved its infrastructure and teaching facilities. It has built a number of bases with high standards, such as numerical control processing, automobile training, accounting computerization training, logistics training, ERP training, Metalworking Training and Zengcheng oral English closed training camp, and 124 experimental training rooms, such as Linux, electrician, electronics, PLC programmable control, single chip microcomputer, refrigeration and air conditioning, ceramic production, etc. The college has 11261 seats in multimedia classrooms and voice labs, 2232 computers for teaching, 16000 information points, 700 access switches and 3500m exit bandwidth. The library has a collection of more than 1.1 million books, 640000 e-books, four large databases and a CD-ROM Retrieval System. The college has standard plastic track and field field, football field, basketball court, table tennis hall, badminton court, tennis court, indoor gymnasium and other sports facilities.  

The college constantly optimizes the campus service work, with complete logistics service system and facilities. There are three provincial standard canteens, student dormitories are under apartment management, with independent balcony, toilet, shower room, centralized solar hot water equipment, telephone, coin operated automatic washing machine, broadband interface and other facilities, so the living conditions are comfortable. The college is located at the south foot of Maofeng mountain in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, and beside the Badou station exit of Guanghe expressway. It is only about 20 minutes' drive from the center of Guangzhou by expressway. There are bus terminus directly to the South Gate of the zoo (No.7 holiday line) and Tianhe passenger station (No.346 line), with convenient transportation.

The development of the college has stepped into a sound track. Since running the college, it has completed the campus construction in the initial stage, upgraded the level from junior college to undergraduate, optimized the structure of engineering based disciplines, and developed the scale of the University from less than one thousand to ten thousand. At present, it has entered a critical period of promoting construction by evaluation, improving quality, characteristic development, and building brand. In 2008, it was rated as one of the "top ten independent colleges" in Guangdong Province; in 2010, it was rated as the "advanced unit of employment work" in Guangdong Province; in 2011, it was rated as the "advanced unit of volunteer work in Baiyun District of Guangzhou Asian Games and Asian Paralympic Games"; in 2012, it successfully passed the bachelor's degree assessment; in 2013, it successfully passed the undergraduate status assessment.
