Guangzhou Civil Aviation Vocational and technical college, directly under the Civil Aviation Administration of China, is the first full-time public university in civil aviation to independently set up and implement higher vocational education. In 1994, the school was identified by the Ministry of education as one of the first ten pilot five-year higher vocational schools in China; in 1999, it was approved by the Ministry of education and the Civil Aviation Administration; in 2010, it was identified by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance as a national model higher vocational college, one of the 100 in China and four in Guangdong Province, and the only National Model Higher Vocational College in civil aviation; In 2013, it officially became a "provincial Ministry co construction" College between CAAC and Guangdong Province; in 2016, it was identified as the "construction unit of Guangdong first-class higher vocational college construction plan" by Guangdong Provincial Department of education and Department of finance.

The school has Airport Road Campus, Baiyun Airport campus and Huadu Chini campus, covering a total area of 1082 mu. At present, the total value of fixed assets is about 1.005 billion yuan, including about 239 million yuan of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment, 33 large, medium and small teaching aircraft, 140 aircraft engines, more than 50000 aircraft parts and a large number of professional equipment.

The school has 689 teaching staff, including 549 full-time teachers, 425 teachers with master's degree or above, accounting for 77% of full-time teachers; 224 professional teachers with dual quality, accounting for 64% of professional teachers; 44.8% of teachers with front-line work experience in industry and enterprises; and 689 teachers with professional quality; The proportion of teachers with professional qualification certificate of civil aviation industry's unique type of work, professional skill appraisal assessor and teacher certificate, and professional qualification certificate of other types of work is 41%.

The school consists of five secondary schools: College of aircraft maintenance engineering, College of airport management, College of civil aviation operation and management, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and College of continuing education. It has enrolled students from 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions. It has 21 majors and 26 professional directions, covering key posts of civil aviation maintenance and service, with more than 12000 students. The registration rate of freshmen, the employment rate of graduates, and the professional counterpart rate are all in the forefront of similar colleges. Among them, the counterpart rate of civil aviation specialty, such as aircraft mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance, aircraft structure repair, avionics equipment maintenance, aviation ground equipment maintenance, and general aircraft maintenance, is more than 90%. Excellent graduates have become technical backbone and management talents.

Guided by the needs of Guangdong modern civil aviation system and aviation industry chain construction, the university takes the cultivation of core competence of civil aviation special professional posts (groups) such as aircraft maintenance and civil aviation transportation as the main line, and innovates the training mode of civil aviation special professional talents with "integration of courses and certificates, integration of China and foreign countries, and integration of school and enterprise". We have formulated the teaching standards of civil aviation special professional courses based on industry standards, and achieved the goal of "industry standards into the system and professional standards into the courses". We have cooperated with civil aviation industry enterprises to build a school enterprise sharing "public training platform" for civil aviation special professional courses such as civil aviation aircraft maintenance engineering, airport safety inspection, aviation service and general aviation, so as to provide reference for civil aviation professional teaching of other colleges and universities in China Play a leading role.
