Nanjing Normal University of special education

Nanjing vocational and Technical College of special education is located in Nanjing, the "city of fraternity". At present, it is the only independent institution of higher learning in China, which focuses on the cultivation of special education teachers.

Founded in 1982, the college was formerly China's first special education normal school founded by the Ministry of education. It is a cooperative project unit between the Chinese government and the United Nations Children's Fund. Since 1997, the college has been training five-year college students. In 2002, it was upgraded to an ordinary university. In 2009, it became a joint construction unit of China Disabled People's Federation and Jiangsu Provincial People's government. The college has become "Jiangsu special education teacher training center" and "national vocational education teacher training base for the disabled", and has won many honorary titles such as "national advanced unit of special education", "Jiangsu civilized unit", "Jiangsu advanced unit of spiritual civilization construction" and "Jiangsu harmonious campus of Colleges and universities".

The college has Yanziji campus and Jiangning campus, covering a total area of 502.8 mu, with a total building area of 161500 m2, a total value of 27.8342 million yuan of teaching and scientific research equipment, and a library collection of 541500 books, of which the Braille book collection is the first in China. The college has 49 on campus experimental (training) rooms and 118 practice (training) bases across the country. Among them, audiology laboratory is in the leading position in the domestic industry. The pre-school education training base is a vocational education training base supported by the central government, and the early intervention and Rehabilitation Center for special children is a provincial vocational training base. The college has two primary schools and one kindergarten.

The college has 9 colleges (departments) and 22 majors, involving six disciplines, including pedagogy, literature, management, law, engineering and agriculture. The college has 4 national and provincial excellent courses, 4 provincial university brands and characteristic majors. In the past five years, teachers of the college have published 83 Monographs (teaching materials), 1622 papers in academic journals at or above the provincial level, including 264 papers in Chinese core journals and 103 papers in CSSCI; they have undertaken the compilation of special children's education and rehabilitation Library series, a national key publishing program of the 12th Five Year Plan and a national fund publishing project; and they have undertaken the National Education Science 12th Five Year Plan ”There are 76 key projects of the Ministry of planning and education, humanities and Social Sciences Planning Projects of the Ministry of education, China Disabled Persons' Federation projects, philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Projects of Jiangsu Province, 16 outstanding achievements awards of philosophy and social sciences research at provincial and ministerial level, and 3 first and second prizes of higher education teaching achievements of Jiangsu Province.

At present, the college has 5122 full-time students (including 618 disabled college students) and 302 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 41% have senior professional and technical positions (including 27 with senior professional titles), and 65% have master's degree or above. The college has 1 provincial excellent teaching team, 1 provincial famous teacher, 5 provincial excellent educators, 1 provincial high-level talent training object of "six talent peaks", 9 provincial second and third level talent training objects of "333 high-level talent training project", 4 provincial young and middle-aged academic leaders of "Blue Project", and 4 provincial outstanding young backbone teachers of "Blue Project" Like 19 people.
