[source] it is the tuberous root of Mirabilis jalapa.

[plant morphology] mirabilis jalapa (caohuapu), also known as rouge flower (caohuapu), meituan flower (Shengjing Tongzhi), Jasminum indicum, fendouhua (a textual research on the name and reality of plants), clove, Fener, Weishi flower, Rouzhi Shuifen, shuifenzi flower and Catharanthus roseus.

One or several flowers are born on the branch tip, the involucre is 5-lobed, calyx like; the calyx is coronoid, the calyx tube is slender, 4-5 cm long, the upper part is enlarged into trumpet shape, 5-lobed, white or purplish red; the petals are absent; the stamens are 5-6, the filaments are slender, equal to or slightly longer than the perianth; the pistil is 1, the ovary is superior, 1-locular, the style is linear, and the stigma is capitate. Fruit narrowly ovate, ca. 8 mm long, black. The seeds are erect and contain abundant white powdery endosperm. The flowering period is from July to September.

It is cultivated in most parts of the country.
