Perennial herbs, 30-40 cm high. There are many roots and clumps. Stems erect or oblique, solitary or 2-stemmed, tufted, nodes inflated, with ridges. The leaf blade is narrow and long, 7-12cm long, 10-3.4mm wide, apex acuminate, base sheath like, amplexicaul, entire, covered with white hairs on the top, glabrous on the bottom, margin of leaf sheath densely covered with Tricholoma. The flower is small, purple, panicle terminal, bifurcated, with a pair of linear lanceolate bracts at the bifurcation; pedicel thin, 3-7mm long; petals 3, obovate; stamens 3, filaments bald; ovary sessile, 3-locular. Capsule broadly ovate, ca. 7 mm long; with several seeds, irregularly flaky, dark brown.

Born on hillside grassland. It is distributed in Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and other Southeast to southwest regions.
