[source] it is the stem pith of sunflower, a Compositae plant.

[chemical constituents] the stem contains about 53% polysaccharide, chlorogenic acid, neochlorogenic acid, 4-o-caffeoylquinic acid and scopoletin.

[function and indications] it is used to treat hemogonorrhea, urinary calculi, chyluria and adverse urination.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 3-5 yuan; or calcined swallowing, or mashed boiling water. External use: tamping.
