[plant morphology] Hibiscus

Erect, branched subshrub, 10-40 cm high. The leaves are alternate, closely gathered at the top of branches, narrowly obovate cuneate, 2-3 cm long, densely covered with gray white pubescence, 3-5 teeth at the top or divided, narrow and long at the base, lobes ovate or narrowly oblong. Inflorescence subglobose, 4-5 mm in diameter, in upper leaf axils, petiolate, forming a terminal, leafy raceme; flowers heterozygous; flowers in two rows, female, tubular, 2-or 3-cleft; flowers bisexual, tubular, 5-cleft in middle. Achene angular 5, crown with short, split scales. It blooms in spring.

It is cultivated in South and central China.
