[animal morphology] Corbicula fluminea, also known as flat snail (SUI Shu).

Shell 2 pieces, slightly triangular, different sizes, large about 6 cm long. The left and right shells are equal, and the top of the shell is inflated and located in the middle of the dorsal edge. The outer shell is covered with shell skin, dark brown, slightly yellow. The surface of the shell is in the shape of whorls. The top of the shell is black, but most of them take off the epidermis and expose calcareous. The inner surface of the shell is purple white. There are three main teeth in the commissure, the largest in the center, and one in the front and one in the back of the lateral teeth. The outer ligament is strong, the mantle is thick, and the mantle scar is slightly curved. The feet are large and tongue-shaped.

They live in rivers, lakes and marshes, and mostly live in muddy water bottom. It is distributed in most parts of the country.

[collection] it can be caught all year round. After catching, put it into boiling water, open the shell, remove the meat, take the shell, wash and dry.

[chemical composition] generally, shells are mainly made of inorganic salts and a kind of protein "shell cutin". Inorganic salts account for about 95%, most of which are calcium carbonate, calcium phosphate (1-2%) and magnesium carbonate (less than 0.5%). The cuticle contains about 1%.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 3-4 yuan; or powder. External use: Calcined storage, grinding powder, sprinkling or regulating application.

[prescription selection] 1. To treat nausea: snail shell and yellow clam shell, two pieces are not much, Chen Zhe is the best, and each piece is burnt to white ash. For each dose, four taels of white plum meat, two taels of snail shell ash and one or two taels of yellow clam shell ash were used. Mix with sand to make a ball, cover it with sand, fix the joint with mud, calcine it, take it out and grind it fine.
