Deciduous trees, 4-10m high. Bark grayish brown, longitudinally lobed; young branches dark brown, tomentose, sometimes spiny. They are simple, alternate, rhomboid or elliptic ovate, 4-11 cm long and 2-5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, margin serrate, dark green above, glabrous below, green at first, tomentose; petiole 2-5 cm long. The flowers are white, 2-3.3 cm in diameter, with 8-10 leaves opening first, forming corymbs; the pedicel is 1-2.5 cm long; the calyx is 5-lobed, the lobes are lanceolate, with dense villi; the petals are 5-obovate. Apex rounded, base narrow; stamens numerous; style 2-3. The pear is globose, 1-1.6cm in diameter, brown, with white spots and calyx falling off. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruiting period is October.
