[herbal medicine] the dried fruit is long ovate or oval, 1.5-2 cm long, 7-9 mm in diameter; the surface is brown or purple brown, with raised irregular network wrinkles; the base has fruit stalk mark, sometimes with fine fruit stalk and dish like persistent calyx. The epicarp is thin and easy to fall off, showing yellowish brown nucleus with irregular longitudinal grooves on the surface; the inner fruit belt is tough and easy to peel, usually containing one seed (the other ovule is generally undeveloped, occasionally containing two seeds).
