Let Lu

Herbaceous perennial, stem 30-90 cm high. The leaves are alternate; the basal leaves are petiolate, broad ovate, wedge-shaped, with notched coarse serrations of different sizes on the edge; the stem leaves are almost sessile, obovate, with notched serrations on the upper part, with spines on the tooth tip; the more upward the leaf is, the smaller the leaf is; the tip leaves are lanceolate, 2-3-lobed or undivided; the leaf is thick, with green fine hairs on the top and light and dense woolly hairs on the bottom. The small peduncle is born in the upper part of the stem between the leaf axils, integrating into a racemose panicle cluster; each head is spherical, 3-4 mm in diameter, often bent, involucre 3-4 rows, outer layer is small, ovate, middle layer is large, elliptic, all glabrous, receptacle, outer floret is female, middle floret is bisexual, all tubular, light yellow, bisexual floret style branches, apex is lanceolate, protruding and acuminate. Achenes ca. 2 mm long. The flowering period is from July to August.

It grows in forest, hillside, field and wetland. It is distributed in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui and Northeast China.
