[plant morphology] Longzhu

Herbs perennial, glabrous or almost glabrous, 90 cm tall. Stem branched, obliquely open, green. Leaf blade long elliptic or elliptic, 8-18 cm long, 4-10 cm wide, both ends acute, entire, or with indistinct thick undulate teeth. The flowers are small, axillary, with 5 clusters; the pedicel is thin, drooping, and the upper end is thick when fruiting, 15-25 mm long; the calyx is 5-lobed, the cutting edge is glabrous; the Corolla is pale yellow, bell shaped, about 8 mm in diameter, the lobes are 5, lanceolate triangle, the apex is truncated, involute; the stamens are 5, medicinal yellow, 2-locular, the filaments are slender; the pistils are 1, the style is shorter than the filaments, and the stigmas are capitate. The fruit is spherical, 7-10 mm in diameter and red when ripe. The flowering period is from June to July.

It grows in the wild and is also cultivated for viewing. It is distributed in most areas of China.
