[plant morphology] Dragon Boat flower

Evergreen shrub, 0.5-2 m high. Branchlets dark brown. Leaves opposite, thin leathery, elliptic or obovate, 7.5-13 cm long and 3-3.5 cm wide, apex acute, base cuneate, entire, main veins protruding on both sides; petiole short, ca. 5 mm long; stipules between petioles, green, amplexicaul, apex spinose. Cymes terminal, densely corymbose, petiole dark red, bracts very small, red, dentate; calyx persistent, dark red, smooth, glabrous, 4-lobed, lobes obtuse dentate; corolla high footed, slightly fleshy, red, lobes 4, suborbicular, apex rounded, when open, diameter about 1 cm, corolla tube slender; stamens 4, vascular orifice, filaments very short, anther yellow; Pistil 1, red, ovary inferior, 2-locular, style slender, stigma 2-lobed, slightly open. Berries nearly round, black red when ripe. It blooms all year round.

Wild or cultivated. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Taiwan, Fujian and other places.
