Perennial herbs, 10-15 cm high. Rhizome short, clustered, most slender fibrous roots, surface pale yellow, fragrant, leaves with long stalks, long oval heart-shaped or wide triangle, about 10 cm long, 8 cm wide, apex acuminate, base ear shaped, often purple below. Flowers simple, axillary, dark purple, ca. 5 cm long, lobes 3, actinomorphic; perianth tube contracted at throat, slightly curved; stamens 12; style 6. Capsule fleshy, not dehiscent.

Born in the shade and wet under the forest. It is distributed in Shaanxi and other places.
