Herbs perennial, 4-20 cm high. Stem erect. Tetragonal, base branched, pubescent. Leaves opposite, elliptic lanceolate, oblong to oblanceolate, 2.5-8 cm long, 0.9-3 cm wide, apex obtuse or pointed, base attenuate, entire or with irregularly obtuse teeth, both sides and margin pilose. Spikes 3-11.5 cm long; bracts ovate to elliptic, 3.9 cm long, 2.7 cm wide, apex acuminate; calyx subcampanulate, 5-toothed, lobes sublanceolate. Corolla white, biphasic, upper lip small, 2-lobed, lower lip large, 3-lobed, middle lobe about twice as long as lateral lobe, corolla tube base geniculate, about 1.2 cm long, 2.3 mm wide, pilose; stamens 4,2-strong, upper 2 equal to lateral lobe of corolla, lower 2 longer than it, inserted above middle of corolla tube, extending out of corolla, filament 5-8 long Anthers T-shaped; pistil 1, style ca. 1.8 cm, stigma 2-lobed. Nutlets, black, obovate elliptic, reticulate rugose and hairy. Seeds ovate, dark brown. The flowering period is from July to August.

Born in the edge of the field ridge, river valley, and wild wet place. Distributed in Gansu, Qinghai, Shanxi, Hebei, Yunnan, Sichuan, Tibet and other places.
