[plant morphology] Vicia multiflora

Perennial herbs, 20-40 cm high. The rhizome is very thick. Stems rise, many. There are tendrils at the tip of rachis, usually unbranched; stipules are semisagittate, 5-7mm long, and the upper stipules are linear, rectangular or ovate lanceolate; leaflets are 8-16, oblong or linear rectangular, apex obtuse or pointed, 15-22mm long and 1.5-2.5mm wide. Raceme with erect hairs, higher than leaves, with 10-20 flowers sparsely distributed to one side; pedicel as long as 5 mm; flowers spreading away, 15-18 mm long; calyx campanulate, with flat pubescence, upper calyx teeth shorter, triangular, lower lanceolate, middle almost as long as calyx tube; corolla purple, flag petal oblong, with very short claws. Pods rectangular, glabrous, 20-30 mm long, 6 mm wide. The seed has a small navel.

It grows in the forest edge of pastoral area and in the shrubbery of river beach. It is distributed in Northeast China.

[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.5-1 Liang. External use: wash with boiling water.

[prescription selection] ① treatment of muscle and bone pain: wild pea, geranium, Gentiana, notopterygium, Smilax China, decocted.

② Malaria fever: multi stem Vicia, tuchangshan, bupleurum, Caogou, fried.

③ Treatment of hepatitis: multi stem wild pea, gentian, Huajin kidney, fried.

④ Treatment of red collapse leucorrhea: multi stem wild pea, Cornus officinalis, fried.

⑤ Cure nosebleed not only: many stem wild pea, fish dregs with stew clothes.

⑥ Cure scrotal eczema: many stalk wild pea, sweet wormwood, decoct water to wash.
