Perennial twining herbs or vines, pilose or nearly smooth. Leaves alternate, ovate, 4-8 cm long, 3-7 cm wide, apex acute or long pointed, base cordate, entire; petiole 2-4.5 cm long. Raceme with forked branches; bracts inserted at branches heart-shaped, sessile, bracts at the base of petiole linear; calyx 5-lobed, lobes linear lanceolate, pilose; corolla white, ca. 1 cm long, 5-lobed, lobes deep into the middle; stamens 5, irregularly arranged in tube, 2 higher, 2 lower, and 1 middle; style linear, stigma elliptic, 2-lobed. Fruit smooth, with persistent sepals elliptic spatulate. The flowering period is September.

It is distributed in the Yangtze River Basin and southwest China.
