When he graduated, the Chinese people's Liberation Army was stationed in Shanghai. Yin Zhen was a teacher at the veterinary school of the East China Military Region of the Chinese people's Liberation Army in Nanjing, teaching anatomy and microbiology. In 1953, the Military Veterinary organization was reorganized, and Yin Zhen served as a teacher in the PLA veterinary university founded in Changchun. In 1995, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering. On July 18, 2000, he was killed in a traffic accident on his way to Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. He was 74 years old.

Main achievements

Achievements in scientific research

Yin Zhen has made some achievements in the isolation and identification of animal viruses. He took the lead in carrying out genetic engineering and cell engineering research in similar colleges and universities in China, and for the first time realized the intracellular recombination of different virus genes in the laboratory and the autologous implantation technology of transgenic rabbits. He presided over the establishment of molecular virology laboratory, which has formed characteristics and advantages in the field of transgenic animal research. according to the website of Changchun history website of the Communist Party of China in May 2020, Yin Zhen edited China's first animal virology, edited and translated more than 20 monographs, and published more than 100 papers. Yin Zhen attached great importance to the compilation and translation of professional academic works. As early as the beginning of his work, with his foreign language ability, he cooperated with Wen Lin to translate the veterinary internal medicine diagnostic method, which was edited by Geo. F. boddie in England and published by animal husbandry and veterinary book press in 1953. In 1980, basic animal virology was published by Jilin People's publishing house. On the basis of this book, he cooperated with Liu Jinghua to compile Animal Virology (published by Science Publishing House) in 1985 and reprinted it in 1997. In addition, he participated in the editing of newly discovered animal infectious diseases (1989, Anhui Science and Technology Press) and diagnostics of animal infectious diseases (1993, Jiangsu Science and Technology Press). according to the website of Changchun history website of the Communist Party of China in May 2020, Yin Zhen has undertaken more than 10 major projects such as the national "863" plan, national tackling key problems and national climbing plan. More than 10 major scientific research projects have been completed and guided. according to the journal papers published in the fifth issue of Journal of Microbiology in 2018, Yin Zhen presided over and completed more than ten military projects, including "Experimental Immunity Research on five major virus diseases of dogs", "etiology, epidemiology, diagnosis and control research on yellow cattle rabies in Henan Province", "vaccine Research on Chicken Newcastle disease virus Chr strain", "attenuated vaccine research on bovine skin cell of pig type O foot-and-mouth disease" Key issues at the provincial and ministerial levels. The research team led by Yin Zhen isolated a new rabies virus variant in the 1980s. In 1984, Yin Zhen and his team took the lead in carrying out "gene recombination research of small RNA viruses of different genera" in the Institute, realizing gene recombination of viruses of different genera in cells. In 1985, he established the first molecular virology laboratory in China's agricultural colleges and universities. In the late 1980s, he began to study anti-virus transgenic animals, transgenic animal disease models and transgenic animal bioreactors, and initiated the autologous implantation technology of transgenic rabbits. In 1993, he established a military genetic engineering laboratory with the leading level in China. according to the website of Changchun history website of the Communist Party of China in May 2020, Yin Zhen has made more than 20 scientific research achievements, among which 7 won the first and second prizes of national, provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress, and 7 won the first and second prizes of military scientific and technological progress.

personnel training

Yin Zhen founded the "three-dimensional teaching method for training high-tech talents", which won the first prize of excellent teaching achievement of the whole army in 1989. according to the journal papers published in the fifth issue of Journal of Microbiology in 2018, Yin Zhen trained 26 doctors and 28 masters in his life, and more than 100 postgraduates who obtained doctor's and master's degrees under his guidance, as well as veterinarians or virologists who studied in the laboratories he presided over, many of whom have become famous scholars and experts in the field of animal virology in China The leader. in 1981, Yin Zhen was approved by the State Council to become a doctoral supervisor of infectious diseases and prevention veterinary medicine, established the first national key discipline in veterinary University, and obtained the first batch of national doctoral degree awarding rights. In July 1997, Yin Zhen presided over the "Research on the structure of doctoral students' knowledge and ability and the ways and methods of training doctoral students -- Research on the training of doctoral students in veterinary first level discipline" which was positioned as a key project of the ninth five year plan.

Yin Zhen has been employed as visiting professor of Yunnan Agricultural University, Yangzhou University, Ningxia University and Shantou University, veterinary science and technology consultant of Tianjin Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and honorary professor of Nanjing Agricultural University.

Personal life

Yin Zhen's father, Yin Yunlin, studied in Fudan public school in his early years and was a Bachelor of Arts in Wu County. His brother and sister-in-law, Yin Zhiwen and min Sigui, studied abroad as early as the 1940s. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, they resigned from their newly acquired jobs in the United States in May 1950 and both left for home. His brother, Yin Zhiwen, was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1993. In 1952, Yin Zhen married Hu Meizhen in Nanjing. Yin Zhen decided to devote himself to the animal husbandry and veterinary cause of the motherland from his youth. When he went to work, the earth shaking changes took place in China. He changed his name to "Zhen" and was determined to make contributions to shake the world. Yin Zhen was in poor health. He had three fifths of his stomach removed and suffered from chronic colitis. He could only eat soft food and light vegetables, and had to rely on drugs to maintain normal digestion.

Character evaluation

Yin Zhen is the founder of animal virology research in China, and an outstanding leader of infectious diseases and preventive veterinary medicine. (Changchun history online review of the Communist Party of China) Yin Zhen made great efforts to stick to his choice all his life. In his youth, in order to seek better working conditions, he resolutely went to the north from the South and stayed in the cold Changchun all his life. When he was young, he was in poor health and underwent major surgery, but he didn't stop until he finally died on the road of business trip. (review of Acta microbiologica Sinica)
