Wu Yusheng

Wu Yusheng (1854-1940), also known as chunzhai, is a native of Wu county (now Wu County, Jiangsu Province). He lives in West Baita Road, Suzhou. He is the grandson of Wu Yanchen, the number one scholar in the family of Wuchen in Jiaqing. He was a Jinshi in Qing Dynasty. He was awarded the Imperial Academy in 1877. He was a Bachelor of cabinet, Minister of rites, and supervisor of Sichuan. He took the exam in Guangdong, and Kang Youwei came out. In the 1898 coup, six gentlemen were killed, and the Empress Dowager of the West didn't need to live in the house because Kang Youwei was out of the house. When empress dowager Xi died, she was appointed Minister of post and communications and Minister of military aircraft.

Living in Qingdao, I love to visit Mt. Laoshan, and almost go all over its scenic spots. I not only take photos as souvenirs, but also make a brief description of every scenic spot and legend in words. I have compiled the contents and travel notes of Mt. Laoshan Scenic spots. There are 32 places from Laoshan lion peak to Mt. MA in Laodong, each of which has photos and detailed introduction. The photo album was photocopied and published by Shanghai Commercial Press. The title of the book is "the 22nd kind of Laoshan Mountain in China". Wu Yusheng inscribed "beautiful scenery of Laoshan Mountain" on the front page of the book and wrote a preface. The memorial archway on the east side of Zhanshan jingshe (Buddhist lecture place) at Xiaoyu peak, Huiquan Bay, Qingdao was originally titled "looking back is the shore" by Wu Yusheng.

Yu Shengshan was a famous calligrapher in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. He left a lot of black marks with his colleagues pan boyin (from Suzhou) and Weng Tonghe (regular acquaintances) in the Palace Museum in Beijing. He often writes in regular script and running script. At the beginning of the typeface, Ouyang's rate was even higher, and later he entered Li Beihai's room. He can join the bell, the Europe, the face and the willow. He likes to caress the stele of lixiu in Lushan when he is old. He is good at writing and writing big characters. He is simple, strong and honest. The fine bones and abundant muscles are the characteristics of Gongshu calligraphy. Suzhou gardens, temples, brick gatehouses, plaques, inscriptions do not reach the meaning of many. For example, the three characters of "Lion Forest" written by the classical garden lion forest, combined with Ouyang Xun's and Yan Zhenqing's fonts, are quite ancient.

His nature is upright and modest, and he is good at doing good deeds in his later years. After 1930, he donated several old works to "Suzhou winter painting and calligraphy relief association" and "Suzhou painting and calligraphy relief association". In January 1931, he wrote a couplet of "looking at the sea and taking the moon, trying to ask Meixian in a silver shop" and donated it to "Suzhou orphanage." Books are sold at a price to relieve the poor.

He was also addicted to movies. No matter where he made them or where they came from (foreign films), as long as new films were released, almost every scene would collapse. He thought that he would enjoy his later years.

Wu Yu was ill in 1940 and died in Qingdao at the age of 87.
