Gaston Gaudio

Gaston Gaudio, born on December 9, 1978 in timpri, Argentina, is a former Argentinian tennis player who won the French Open in 2004.

In 2004, Gaudio saved two championship points in the French Open final. After losing two sets first, he pulled three sets in a row and beat quelermo Correa 8-6 in the long set (Correa had a cramp in her thigh in the two sets leading). He won the French Open title as a dark horse and became the second Argentinian to win the Grand Slam men's singles title after Guillermo villas.

On August 31, 2011, Gaudio announced his retirement. Gaudio has won eight singles tournaments in his career. Apart from the French Open in 2004, gaudior has never been in the final eight of a grand slam in his career.

Career

In 1996, Gaudio turned to work. In 2002, Gaudio defeated world number one Leighton Hewitt and Albert Costa in the semi-final and final of Barcelona open to win his first tour singles championship. A week later, in the Mallorca open, Gaudio won his second tour singles championship back to back.

In 2004, Gaudio beat quelermo Kanas, giri Novak, Thomas nquist, Igor andrev, Leighton Hewitt and David Nalbandian to reach the final as a big dark horse. In the final against quelermo Correa, Correa suddenly suffered from thigh cramps when he was leading in two sets. In the end, gaudior pulled three sets in a row, broke Correa's two serve winning games in the decisive set and saved two champion points. He won 0-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 and 8-6 and won the only Grand Slam championship and the third tour singles championship in his career. Gaudio became the second player from Roland Garros to bring back the men's singles champion for the Argentines after his predecessor, Guillermo villas, took the lead here in 1977. At the same time, he is also the second man's singles champion in the history of Argentinian tennis. That year, Gaudio also entered the Masters Cup (year-end finals) for the first time and stopped in the group stage.

In 2005, Gaudio achieved 55-21 records, including 42-8 on clay, second only to Rafael Nadal; won five tour singles Championships; ranked fifth in the world, the highest in his career, and was shortlisted in the Masters Cup (year-end finals) for the second year in a row. French Open, Gaudio in the fourth round of the decisive set 4-0 leading circumstances lost six games against David Ferrer, defending the title failed.
