The painting of plum blossom

It is 155.5cm high and 72.8cm wide. It is made of silk. It is now in the Palace Museum. The picture shows an old plum tree with sparse flowers. The composition and pen are powerful. Lao Qian is very strong. He paints in dark ink with rich texture. The branches carrying flowers are curved like bows, and the vigorous tips point to the sky, which has a tendency of pulling out. The plum flowers in the painting are cool and beautiful, full of vigor and vitality. It is not known when the ink plum painting began. It is said that it was monk Zhongren (Huaguang) and a Taoist Bai Yuchan in the Song Dynasty. It is said in history that Hua Guang can draw plum with his pen and ink freely, and he can get three flavors. Bai Yuchan's painting of plum is also very clear. Although their works have not survived, Hua Guang's Mei Pu is still handed down to this day. This shows that before this, people have accumulated quite rich experience in plum painting. We can also see from Wang Mian's "the painting of momei" and Chen Lu's "the axis of plum blossom" in the early Ming Dynasty that as a kind of literati painting, the performance skills of momei have reached a very high level. As a kind of human painting, its performance skills have reached a very high level.
