Ji Ben (1485-1563), with the name of Mingde and the name of Pengshan, was born in Kuaiji (now Shaoxing, Zhejiang). His works include four tongs of Yi ology and Shi Shuo Jie Yi.

Ji Ben learned from Wang Shouren. Wuzong Zhengde 12 years (1517) ascended Jinshi. He was granted the title of "Tui Guan" in Jianning Prefecture, and was appointed as the censor. He was relegated to Jieyang as the chief official by his words, and was sent to the magistrate of Changsha. In the 22nd year of emperor Shizong's Jiajing reign (1544), he was dismissed by the magistrate of Changsha and returned to his hometown. The poem is preserved in the annals of Kuaiji County in Kangxi.
