From June 1978 to March 1979 and from July 1979 to December 1979, he served as acting Procurator General of Beijing Municipal People's Procuratorate, and from December 1979 to March 1983, he served as Procurator General of Beijing Municipal People's Procuratorate. The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress approved the appointment of Wei bin as the procurator general of the Beijing Municipal People's Procuratorate on February 12, 1980.
