Weng Liangyu
Weng Liangyu (1905-1926), male, was born in Cangshan, Fujian Province.
In October 1926, before the Northern Expedition army entered Fuzhou, he was killed by the reactionary warlords and died bravely.
Life of the characters
Born on September 27, 1905 in a well-off family. In 1921, he was admitted to Fuzhou normal school. Influenced by the May 4th movement, he actively participated in the patriotic and democratic movement of students. At the beginning of 1923, he went to Shanghai to seek revolutionary truth and accepted Li Dazhao's instruction. In the autumn of the same year, he took part in the activities of the progressive youth organization "people's guide society". Taking Fuzhou Normal University as the front, he published "people's Guide newspaper" to publicize Marxism Leninism and became the backbone of Fujian students' Federation. In 1924, the workers' primary school was set up to admit the poor children of workers and peasants. In the spring of 1925, he was elected as the vice president of Fujian students' Federation, leading Fuzhou students to carry out the anti imperialist patriotic struggle, organizing students of all schools to boycott Japanese goods and punishing traitors. In March 1925, he joined the Chinese New Democratic Youth League. In July of the same year, he was elected member of the Communist Youth League (then called the New Democratic Youth League) Fuzhou local committee and member of the workers and peasants Committee. Then he opened the "Fuzhou bookstore" to sell progressive books and periodicals, and served as the underground transportation contact point of the Communist Youth League. In September 1925, the Fujian students' Union set up the "Committee for recovering the right to education" to fight against imperialist cultural aggression. Weng Liangyu published an article denouncing the crime of imperialist aggression. At that time, warlord Zhou Yinren sent agents and spies to "Fuzhou bookstore" to monitor the progressive youth, and also sent agents to control Weng Liangyu's house. On December 23 of that year, Weng Liangyu was unfortunately arrested at a meeting of the Fujian students' Federation. He was imprisoned for a full 10 months and remained unyielding.
