Chen Bosheng
Chen Bosheng (1891-1957), male, named Yuanquan, was born in Min County, Fujian Province (now Fuzhou City). He was a Chinese journalist and political figure. Taiwan legislator, a famous Chinese journalist. He was an important person who introduced Marxism into China before and after the May 4th movement.
Personal experience
Chen Puxian studied in Japan in his early years and graduated from the Department of economics of Waseda University. During his stay in Japan, he and Li Dazhao were both members of the literature Committee of the student union in Japan, and were responsible members of the China Society of economics and finance established in the spring of 1916 (there were six responsible members). After graduation, he traveled to Europe and the United States. Around 1916, when he returned to China, he joined with Li Dazhao as the editor of the morning post. At the end of 1918, he went to Japan as a special correspondent of the morning post to observe the attitude of the Japanese government and the opposition before the Paris peace conference, and to interview Yoshino Zuozuo and others about the "dawn conference" and the situation of Japanese Socialist Thought and the workers' movement. On the eve of the May 4th movement, Chen Puxian returned to China. Since April 1919, he has written articles under the pseudonym of "Yuanquan" to introduce Japanese Socialist Thoughts and Marxism. In May 1919, he was editor in chief of the morning post. From July to August in 1919, he went to Tokyo again as a special commissioner to report. At the end of 1920, he went to the UK as the special commissioner of morning post in the UK, which made him the first special commissioner of Chinese newspapers in Europe. In 1922, he returned to China and continued to work in Beijing Morning Post. In 1924, he was arrested by Feng Yuxiang for attacking the national army. In 1928, the morning post stopped publication. He went to Northeast China with Zhang Xueliang. After that, he served as the chief writer of Min Yan Bao and adviser to the office of the commander of the northeast frontier army. In 1930, he was the president of Beiping morning post. On January 30, 1930, the Beiping branch of China Civil Rights Protection Alliance was established, and Hu Shi, Cheng SHEWO, Chen Bosheng and others were elected executive members. Later, Chen Bosheng joined the Central News Agency of the Chinese Kuomintang. In May 1936, he served as the agency's special commissioner in Tokyo, Japan (Liu Zunqi as an assistant). After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese War, he returned to China and became the general manager of the Central News Agency. From 1938 to 1948, he was a member of the National Political Council. In December 1940, he became the president and chief writer of the central daily (Chongqing Edition). After 1942, he was still the head of the Central News Agency. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, he attended the surrender ceremony on behalf of the Central News Agency on the warship Missouri in Tokyo Bay. In 1946, Chen Bosheng was a deputy to the national assembly. After 1948, he served as a legislator of the Republic of China. In 1949, he withdrew to Taiwan with the Central News Agency. In June 1950, he resigned as head of the Central News Agency. Chen Bosheng died in Taiwan on August 13, 1957. After the death of Chen Bosheng, Taiwan's press once set up a "Chen Bosheng scholarship" to reward outstanding young people in the press.
