Xue Chengji is the descendant of Xue Shengbai, the "four great masters of febrile diseases" of Wu School of traditional Chinese medicine in Ming Dynasty. Xue Chengji inherited Xue Shengbai's theory of febrile disease and had a deep research on typhoid. At that time, most doctors in Wuzhong followed Zhu Danxi's theory of nourishing yin and overemphasized "nourishing yin and reducing fire" in clinical practice, resulting in "cold medicine hurting people". On the basis of treatise on febrile diseases, Xue Chengji compiled a hundred syndrome songs of febrile diseases, which was later collected by Wu Yihui and published in the world. Xue Chengji had a weak nature and was not an official all his life. He only practiced medicine in the countryside and inherited his family tradition. His book Shanghan Jingzheng Fuyu is a supplement and collateral evidence to Shanghan Baizheng Ge. It has been collected by later generations and has not been published.
