Wu Renzhi
Chinese drama director, drama educator and ci writer. Born on November 8, 1902 in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. The original name is Xiang, with thousands of words. In 1915, he was admitted to Shanghai Datong University as a preparatory course. After the May 4th movement, he became a middle school teacher, actively participated in the school movement and patriotic drama movement, and directed such plays as "tears of mountains and rivers", "the last lesson" and "national soul" for amateur performances.
Life experience
In the summer of 1937, he directed the play "three kings" for MAILUN middle school in Shanghai, participated in the patriotic joint public performance, and got acquainted with Zhang Geng and Yu Ling successively, engaged in the national salvation drama movement. In the winter of the same year, he joined the green bird drama club. In 1939, Yu Ling and others prepared to build Shanghai drama society. He directed the first play "the beginning of man", which was successful. After that, he rehearsed many excellent plays and world famous plays, and the art of directing became more and more mature. Together with Huang zuolin, Fei Mu and Zhu Duanjun, he was known as the "four directors of isolated islands".
After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, he and Gu Zhongyi founded the Shanghai Municipal experimental drama school, served as the Dean, covered Tian Han, an'e, Hongshen, Ouyang Yuqian, etc. to stay in the school to teach, led the teachers and students to participate in the anti hunger parade and other progressive activities, and was forced to resign and transferred to Nanjing national drama academy as a professor.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he was a deputy to the first people's Congress of Suzhou. He was appointed as a professor and director of the drama section of the National Institute of social education. After joining the army at the end of 1949, he served as deputy director of the literature and Art Department of South China military and Political University and deputy director of the literature and art cadre training class of the Political Department of the third field army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. In 1952, he was transferred to Shanghai Science and education film studio as the deputy director. In September 1957, he was transferred to Shanghai Theater Academy. The next year, he was appointed as the vice president and concurrently the director of the research office and the director department. In 1979, he directed "frost dawn corner", which set up a vivid image of Lu Xun on the stage of drama and won the performance award of the Ministry of culture. In 1979, he was elected director of the Chinese Dramatist Association and member of the Chinese Federation of literary and art circles.
