Guo Ying
Guo Ying, male, was born in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province in June 1922, also known as Guo Gensheng. In 1946, he graduated from Biology Department of Nanjing University, Bachelor of science. He has worked in the Institute of zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai and Beijing.
Achievements and honors
He has published more than 80 research papers and seven monographs: Metamorphosis of insects (1965), hormones of insects (1979, with Wu Qiuyan et al.), experimental techniques of Entomology (1988, with Xinjie Liuhe Bian), biology of locust in China (1991, with Chen Yonglin et al.), history of zoology in ancient China (1999, with Needham et al.), and development history of zoology in China (20) 04, with Qian Yanwen, et al. His scientific research work won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award (1982) and the second prize of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (1984), and the biology of locust in China won the first prize of the Sixth China Book Award (1992). Recipients of special allowance for experts of the State Council.
