It can be seen that the development of Naxi Dongba religion is related to the influx of Shangri La Bon religion.

Dongba, as a religious professional, has a high social status and is regarded as a medium between man and God and ghost. He can not only deal with God, but also talk with ghost. It can welcome happiness and drive away ghosts, and eliminate folk disasters. Can pray for the gods to bring happiness to the world. Dongba is generally inherited from father to son. It is inherited from generation to generation. It is not out of work. It has wife and children, and it is passed on to son-in-law if there are no children. Aminshiro, the second ancestor of Dongba religion, is a native of baidishuijia village, Sanba Township, Shangri La County. His ancestors migrated from Russia and Asia (Southern Sichuan). Up to now, Dongba still has descendants in Shangri La Shuijia. Therefore, Baidi, Sanba Township, Shangri La County, has become a pilgrimage site for all Dongba believers. There is a saying that "if you have not been to Baidi, you are not really Dongba.".

Dongba religion is a secular and polytheistic religion. Most of the gods are no different from human beings, no matter what they look like or how they live. Lao AP, the son of the God of heaven, is a shepherd. He leads his dog to hunt and fish. Yang and Yin, while milking, rub wheat ears and weave blankets. Naxi people's imagination about God is fixed in the scope of everything related to themselves. The gods live in the same wooden houses as the common customs. There are complete stables for cattle, horses and sheep. There are no shortage of grain drying racks and fire pools. Even the world after death advocated by Dongba doctrine is peaceful, a picture of pastoral. Therefore, Dongba religion is kind and human.
