According to reports, according to the annual work plan, from December 23 to 26, the Southern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army received a visiting delegation from the Vietnamese People's Army Navy in Guangzhou and successfully held the 17th annual meeting of the China Vietnam Beibu Gulf Joint Patrol. In a friendly, candid, and enthusiastic atmosphere, the two sides reviewed the situation of the 2024 Beibu Gulf Joint Patrol and studied and coordinated the work of the 2025 Beibu Gulf Joint Patrol

In addition, the 37th joint patrol of the Beibu Gulf between China and Vietnam was successfully completed on December 4th. This joint patrol lasted for two days and had a total range of over 200 nautical miles. China and Vietnam sent a total of four naval vessels to participate, with the Chinese task force consisting of the Guangyuan and Tongling naval vessels

Zhu Zhenming, a researcher at the South Asia and Southeast Asia Research Institute in Kunming, China, pointed out that the long-term joint maritime patrols between China and Vietnam fully reflect the strategic consensus reached by the two parties and countries. This cooperation has important and practical significance for further consolidating and deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Vietnam, enhancing mutual trust and cooperation between the two militaries, and improving the ability of the two navies to jointly respond to maritime emergencies and maintain maritime security and stability
