China refutes Western 'cyber espionage' framing

On the 7th, China stated that the actions taken by New Zealand, the United States, and other countries against alleged espionage activities related to China are "baseless and irresponsible", and called China one of the "main victims" of cyber attacks.

According to reports, this statement is a response to warnings issued earlier this week by relevant agencies in individual countries such as New Zealand and the United States, which claimed that "actors associated with China have invaded the networks of major global telecommunications service providers and carried out extensive and significant cyber espionage activities".

The Chinese Embassy in New Zealand stated that China firmly rejects such baseless and irresponsible attacks and framing.

It also urges relevant countries to immediately stop conducting cyber attacks globally and to stop using cybersecurity issues to "smear and defame China".

According to reports, the Chinese Embassy in New Zealand called on all countries to jointly build a peaceful, secure, open, cooperative, and orderly cyberspace in a statement, while accusing the United States of using advanced technological means to fabricate other countries' cyber attacks.

The embassy calls on all parties to commit to jointly addressing cybersecurity threats through dialogue and cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.

The embassy also cited a report released by relevant Chinese agencies, showing that the United States uses advanced technological means to fabricate other countries' cyber attacks, including "deliberately misleading traceability analysis and framing other countries by inserting strings in other languages such as Chinese".

The Chinese Embassy in New Zealand stated that the United States has been using its advantageous position, such as submarine cables, to carry out large-scale and systematic network surveillance and espionage globally, even by leaders of its allied countries.

The embassy stated, "China is one of the main victims of cyber attacks and has always firmly opposed and cracked down on any form of cyber attack in accordance with the law
