Breaking the record for the duration of extravehicular activities by Chinese astronauts

According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, at 21:57 Beijing time on December 17, 2024, after 9 hours of extravehicular activity, the crew members of Shenzhou-19 spacecraft, Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze, worked closely together with the support of the space station's robotic arm and ground researchers to complete tasks such as installing space debris protection devices, inspecting and disposing of extravehicular equipment and facilities. Astronauts Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong have safely returned to the Wentian experimental module, and their extravehicular activities have been a complete success, once again breaking the record for the duration of extravehicular activities for Chinese astronauts.

Astronaut Cai Xuzhe takes another spacewalk after two years, and Song Lingdong becomes China's first post-90s astronaut to conduct extravehicular activities.

According to the plan, during the manned flight mission of Shenzhou-19, personnel and application payload extravehicular activities will be carried out, and a large number of scientific and technological experiments will be conducted.
