Zheng Shengyi is a famous film critic and director in South Korea. He was the chief editor of roadshow and kino. His personal works include Lin Quanze on Lin Quanze (2003, wild Kim Kyd (2003), when the world becomes a film (2010), passion and despair: a study of Korean film in the 21st century (2010), and he wrote a preface and some chapters for the history of Korean film: from the enlightened period to the flowering period (2006). In addition to film review, he co hosted the master class of Busan International Film Festival in 2005 with Hou Xiaoxian, a director from Taiwan, China. In 2000 and 2007, he gave lectures in the master class of Korea Academy of film and painting with Jia Zhangke, a famous Chinese director. In 2009, he made his first feature film "white night black coffee".
The film was shortlisted for the 2009 Venice International Film Festival critic Zhou Yuanyuan and the Rotterdam International Film Festival, and was invited to participate in 14 other international film festivals. In addition, Zheng Shengyi is also the program director of Seoul Digital Film Festival in South Korea.
