Wanshe District, which belongs to Wuhu City, Anhui Province, is located in the southeast of Anhui Province and on the South Bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. In the Western Jin Dynasty, the second year of Emperor Wu's Taikang (281), Danyang county was divided into two parts. Xuancheng county was set up to govern Wanling. The northeast of Wuhu County and the south of Dangtu County were located in Huxian County, which belonged to Danyang county.
In 589, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty settled Chen, removed Danyang and Huainan counties, set up Jiangzhou, and settled in the stone city of today's Nanjing. And Xiangyuan, Yuhu, Fanchang and other counties into Dangtu, county government moved to Gushu, now Dangtu County, Wuhu City was reduced to Dangtu town.
In 975, Taizu of the Northern Song Dynasty leveled Jiangnan and destroyed the Southern Tang Dynasty. In the ninth year, he changed xiongyuan army to Pingnan army. In 1645, Nanjing Zhili was changed into Jiangnan Province, and Jiangnan buzhengshi was set up to govern the counties. On April 24, 1949, Wuhu County was liberated. In May, Wuhu City was established in Wuhu City and its suburbs, which belongs to the southern Anhui administrative office. Wuhu County belongs to Wudang District of Wannan administration.
In 1950, Wudang district was abolished and Wuhu County was directly under the South Anhui administrative office. In February 1953, it was transferred to Wuhu district.
