Mianchi's name comes from the name of the ancient pond. Its original name is Strider pond, which is named after the water strider (a water insect) injected into the pond. In ancient times, it belonged to Yuzhou. In the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was the border town of Luodu (now Luoyang). In the spring and Autumn period, it belonged to Guo and Zheng. During the Warring States period, Han destroyed Zheng and Mianchi belonged to Han. In the 36th year of King Nan of Zhou Dynasty (279 B.C.), the Qin Zhao alliance was built in the Jichi outside the Xihe River.
In Qin Dynasty, Jianchi county was set up, belonging to Sanchuan county. In the Western Han Dynasty, Strider pool, also known as pengchi, belongs to Hongnong county. In the Wei Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms, the county was renamed Mianchi, belonging to hengnong county. Jin Dynasty belongs to Hongnong county. Mianchi County was set up in the Northern Wei Dynasty, with jurisdiction over three counties, namely, Guli County, beimianchi county and xixin'an county. Set hengnong County, the jurisdiction of Gu County, owned the western part of this county. Later Yiyang County, to the west of Xin'an County, also owns the east of the county. In the Eastern Wei Dynasty, Jinmen county (later changed to Yiyang County) was set up, and nanmianchi county was under its jurisdiction. In the early Sui Dynasty, Mianchi County belonged to Xiongzhou, and it was changed to Henan County in the second year of Daye (606). In the first year of Yining (617), it was changed to Yiyang County. In the early Tang Dynasty, Guzhou was built in Mianchi and governed Mianchi and other three counties. In the third year of Zhenguan (629), the county was named "Tianchi" and was transferred to Shuangqiao town. In the second year of Xianqing (657), Guzhou was abandoned and Tianchi was changed to Luozhou (later Henan Province).
In the Five Dynasties, the name of fumianchi belonged to the south of jingxihe. Song Dynasty belongs to Henan Province, northwest Beijing road. In the early Jin Dynasty, Mianchi was transferred to Shaozhou in the first year of Xingding (1217), and it had jurisdiction over Yongning, Yiyang, Mianchi and Lijin counties, of which the latter two counties were in the present county. The Ming and Qing Dynasties belonged to Henan Province. The county name of Ming Dynasty is also called "Mianchi".
During the period of the Republic of China, Mianchi was subordinate to heluodao, the third administrative office in western Henan and the 11th administrative office of Henan Province. In February 1945, the Anti Japanese democratic government of Mianchi County was established, belonging to the second special area of western Henan in the Shanxi Hebei Shandong Henan border region. In August 1947, the people's democratic government of Mianchi County was established, belonging to the fifth special district of Taiyue district. In March 1948, Mianchi was completely liberated, and it was changed into a special area of western Henan, and then into a special area of seven and three. Mianchi is located in the East-West complex structural belt of Qinling Mountains, on a syncline of Gushan, the North Branch of the east end of Qinling Mountains latitudinal structural belt. The syncline axis is located in Nandaling area, and the axis is approximately southeast, asymmetric. Most of the county is in the north of the syncline. The strata are arranged from old to new and from north to south. Located in the south of North China platform, it belongs to Taihang fault block in North China fault block area. There are fault strata and bedrock exposed in Gushan area. At the end of Jurassic, influenced by the Yanshan movement, the strata were strongly wrinkled and the faults developed. The faults were mainly small faults and faults of unknown nature, and there were magmatic intrusions in some strata. The exposed strata are: Sinian quartz sandstone, Cambrian limestone and shale, Ordovician dolomitic limestone, Carboniferous limestone and sandstone, Permian and Triassic sandstone and shale. The general characteristics of geology are complex structures and numerous faults. There are 44 large faults, including longbi fault, gumen fault, jiaohuai fault, Potou fault, Yigou fault, Dongshan fault, etc.
Mianchi, influenced by neotectonic movement, formed arched uplifts and active faults with an approximate East-West trend. It belongs to the area outside the Hubei Henan seismic belt and is a high earthquake incidence area. Mianchi is located in the Yellow River Basin, the landform belongs to the type of shallow hills, ranging from 200 to 1500 meters above sea level, with an average altitude of 505.8 meters. In the north is the middle and low mountain area (Shaoshan area, 800-1500 meters above sea level) with Donggu mountain as the main body, and Shaoshan forest and animal husbandry area as the main body, accounting for 52.5% of the total area of the county; in the south is the hilly area (400-700 meters above sea level) with Xigu mountain as the main body, and in the middle is a trough basin (Jianchuan area), including Jianhe river and Hongyang River (700-300 meters above sea level) M).
