Dongxiang District, belonging to Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the east of Jiangxi Province. It is located in the transition zone between hills and Poyang Lake Plain in the east of Jiangxi Province. It is known as the gateway of the east of Jiangxi Province. The county was established in 1512, the seventh year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty. In 2017, the county was withdrawn and divided into districts. It has jurisdiction over 14 towns (streets), 3 farms (forest farms) and 1 provincial economic development zone. By the end of 2019, Dongxiang district has a total area of 1196 square kilometers and a total population of 452000, of which the urban population is 220000.
Dongxiang is an important settlement and breeding place of Jiangyou people. Because most of its jurisdiction is in the east of Linchuan, it is named Dongxiang. Dongxiang district is 40 kilometers away from Linchuan District of Fuzhou and 96 kilometers away from Nanchang. Shanghai Kunming railway, Shanghai Kunming high speed railway, Shanghai Kunming expressway, Dongchang expressway, national highway 320 and national highway 236 pass through the area.
In 2018, Dongxiang District achieved a GDP of 15.658 billion yuan, ranking the second place in Fuzhou City, with an increase of 8.6%, ranking the second place in Fuzhou City.
History of construction
In the seventh year of Zhengde (1512) of Ming Dynasty, it was divided into the eastern part of Linchuan County of Fuzhou Prefecture, and part of the territory of Anren County of Jinxi and Raozhou Prefecture, Yugan County of Nanchang Prefecture and Jinxian County of Nanchang Prefecture. Dongxiang County was set up and belonged to Fuzhou Prefecture. Because most of the area is in the east of Linchuan, it is named Dongxiang.
In the second year of Shunzhi (1645), the Qing army established Jiangxi Province, which was under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou Prefecture and Dongxiang County until the end of the Qing Dynasty.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the government and Zhili prefecture were abolished; in the third year of the Republic of China (1914), Yuzhang Road, Xunyang Road, Luling road and Gannan road were established in Jiangxi Province, and Dongxiang County was subordinate to Yuzhang road; in the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926), Yuzhang road was abolished and Dongxiang County was subordinate to Jiangxi provincial government;
In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1933), Jiangxi Province was divided into 13 administrative regions, and Dongxiang County was subordinate to the fifth administrative region, which governed Linchuan; on April 24, 1935, Jiangxi Province was reduced to eight administrative regions, and Dongxiang County was subordinate to the seventh administrative region, which governed Nancheng.
On May 5, 1949, Dongxiang County was liberated.
On May 14, 1949, Guixi district was set up and Dongxiang County was subordinate to it.
In September 1949, Guixi district was merged into Shangrao District, and Dongxiang County was subordinate to Shangrao district.
On September 11, 1952, nine special districts in Jiangxi Province were merged into six special districts. Dongxiang County still belongs to Shangrao special district.
In July 1968, Dongxiang County was transferred to Fuzhou.
On March 2, 2001, yangqiaodian Township, Wangqiao Township and Liwei Township were abolished and yangqiaodian Town, Wangqiao town and Liwei town were established.
On November 8, 2001, Changlin township was abolished and assigned to Xiaogang town; Dianqian township was abolished and assigned to weishangqiao town; huxingshan township was abolished and assigned to Liwei town; Yuyi township was abolished and assigned to yangqiaodian town.
On December 23, 2016, according to the spirit of the relevant Reply of the State Council, it was agreed to cancel Dongxiang County and establish Dongxiang District of Fuzhou City. The former administrative region of Dongxiang County is Dongxiang District of Fuzhou City.

In 1979, Wangqiao brigade, huashuyuan village and xiaokengyuan village were assigned to Hongxing reclamation farm.
In June 1984, the people's commune was abolished and the township government was established. Xiaogang town and Changlin, Yangqiao (renamed yangqiaodian in October of the same year), Yuyi, Bogan, Xiaohuang, Dengjia, Zhanwei, Dianqian, Wangqiao, Huwei, Mawei, Yaowei, Dongyuan (renamed gangshangji in October), Liwei, huxingshan 15 townships are set up in the county.
On April 23, 1985, Xiaohuang Township and Mawei Township were abolished, and Xiaohuang Town, Mawei town and weishangqiao town were established (under the jurisdiction of Hongxing reclamation area).
In March 1989, Xiaogang town began to set up five neighborhood committees: Market Street, new street, Jiefang street, Shengli Street and production street.
On December 12, 1995, gangshangji Township and Zhanwei Township were abolished and gangshangji town and Zhanwei town were established.
In March 1996, Zhanwei township was changed into Zhanwei Town, and gangshangji township was changed into gangshangji town.
In April 2001, yangqiaodian Township, Wangqiao Township and Liwei Township were changed into towns. In November of the same year, the township division was adjusted: Changlin township was merged into Xiaogang Town, Dianqian Township into weishangqiao Town, huxingshan Township into Liwei Town, and Yuyi Township into yangqiaodian town.
From July 2002 to September 2003, a total of 18 village committees were merged and one new village committee was established. Among them: Xiaogang town abolished Huling and merged into the south, abolished 5 village committees and 6 neighborhood committees in Dongmen, Nanmen, Beimen, Datian and Jiangjia, and set up 9 community neighborhood committees in Longshan, Fenghuang, Shishui, Furong, Dongmen, Beimen, Nanmen, Dafu and Dongjing. In Xiaohuang Town, miaoquan was abolished and Hengshan was built under the reservoir. In yangqiaodian Town, xinghuatang was merged into Songtang, Shikeng was merged into Yuyi. Liwei town is merged into shangchi. Xufang in xushangqiao town was merged into youlutou, and Aijia was merged into Weijia. Huwei township was abolished and Shiqiao was merged into Maxi. Deng's hometown abolished Wufang and merged into Junling. Yaowei Township abolished Nanyuan and merged into Yaowei. Gankeng Forest Farm abolished the community order and merged into the pine forest. Hongliang reclamation site was abolished and Jiaoxi was merged into Zhengjia.
In November 2007, Huwei Township restored the Shiqiao village committee.
In October 2010, the original Hongxing enterprise group restored the name of Hongxing reclamation farm, which was designated as a township level unit under the jurisdiction of Dongxiang County.
