Pea

Annual climbing herb, bald and frosty, 1-2m high. Pinnate compound leaves, alternate, with pinnate branched tendrils at the end of leaf axis; stipules ovate, leaflike, often larger than leaflets, base auricular, surrounding petiole or stem, with fine teeth at the lower edge; leaflets 2-6, broad elliptic or rectangular, 25-50 mm long, entire. The petiole is shorter than the petiole: 1-3 flowers, white or purple; calyx bell shaped, 5-lobed, lobes lanceolate; corolla butterfly shaped, flag petal round, wing petal adnate to keel petal; stamens 10, in bundles of 9 and 1; style flat, apex enlarged, inner side bearded. The pod is oblong, 5-10 cm long. Seeds 2-10, globose. The flowering period is from April to May.

It is cultivated all over the country.
