[animal morphology] big Lingmao, also known as Lei (Shanhaijing), Wenli (Chuci), Lingli (Yang Fu's foreign body records), Lingmao (materia medica Collection), Xiangli (Youyang Zazu), Xiangmao (Dan Pb zalu), Shanli (Kun Yu Tu Shuo), jiujieli, Shexiang and jiujiangli.

It is slender, about 83cm long, 43cm long and weighs about 8kg. The snout is slightly pointed, with setae arranged beside the mouth. The limbs are short, the feet have 5 toes, and the claws are bent and slightly retractable. The perineum of both male and female has a perfume sac, which can secrete strange fragrance. The body is grayish brown or light yellow, the head, forehead and lips are grayish white, there are three black horizontal lines from the neck to the front shoulder, and there are two white horizontal lines between them; there is one black longitudinal line from the middle of the back to the base of the tail, and there is one white narrow line from the middle of the white back on both sides; the abdomen is light gray; the limbs are dark brown; the tail hair is thick and soft, between the white narrow ring and the black wide ring, and the end is black.

It lives in the bush. He lived alone in the camp at night, quick in action and sensitive in hearing. Omnivorous, to small animals, birds, fish, frogs, crabs for food, but also eat insects, wild fruits and poultry. China is distributed from Qinling Mountain in Shaanxi Province in the north to Hainan Island in Guangdong Province in the south, Jiangsu and Zhejiang in the East, Sichuan and Yunnan in the West.

In addition to the above varieties, there are also kittens, also known as spotted civet, whose secretions in the sacs are also used as medicine. However, the body size of civet is smaller and the sacs are less developed.
