Su Xuan

Personage introduction
Su Xuan (after 1553-1626) was a famous seal cutter in Ming Dynasty and one of the five masters in Ming Dynasty. He was born in Xin'an (Shexian County, Anhui Province). He studied calligraphy and engraving from Wen Peng. There are old buildings and broken steles. Those who ask for odd words are wrong. From then on, he directly took the French and Han seals and successively copied and engraved nearly a thousand Chinese seals. He also concentrated on the structure of words. Finally, it formed a vigorous and simple style, and created the seal cutting school of Sishui, which was as famous as Wenpeng and he Zhen.
Life
Su Xuan compiled his own seal in 1617 as Su Shi Yin Lue, with 537 handprints, which fully reflected his life's achievements. Yu enye and Yao Shishen wrote a preface to the book. Su Xuan is very good at changing the form of his works, such as man Bai, Xi Zhu, Gu Xi, Chong Shu, Miao Zhuan, and Zhen Shu. He is good at everything. His layout is flat and strange, dangerous and stable, seeking charm in the integrity. He has a unique style of cutting and punching. His seal style had an important influence on later generations, such as Ding Jing and Deng Shiru. Its seals are all over the country, and many people come to ask for advice. Dong Qichang, Chen Jiru, sun Kehong and others used seals more often.
